My Halloween Candy Jar

October 25, 2016

There are so many things about Halloween to get hyped about – not to mention, all the SWEETS! I’m always looking for original ways to treat (but not trick) others. I recently made terracotta (plant pot) mummy candy jars and they were a huge hit and easy enough to make, that I could do a bunch (and affordably) in just one afternoon. Grab some favorite candies and gift away – perfect for friends, co-workers, teachers, kids, you name the recipient – they’ll love it. Find what you need and the steps below…

Makes 1 Total craft time: Under 10 minutes

What you’ll need:

  • 1 terracotta plant pot + saucer
  • 1 roll of gauze
  • 1 set of googly eyes
  • 1 drawer knob
  • Industrial strength adhesive
  • Glue gun
  • Lace ribbon (optional)

How to make it:

First, add the googly eyes, and place them where you’d like them to be in the middle of the pot securely by gluing with a strong adhesive. After this, you’ll want to place the knob – so find the middle point of the saucer and again, using a strong adhesive, secure the knob to the saucer (letting it dry before moving along). Next, you’ll want to start wrapping around the pot with gauze (I went just slightly over both eyes, top and bottom). Once you’ve wrapped your pot to your liking, glue the end down with a glue gun. Now, wrap the saucer in a similar fashion. Lastly (and optionally), tie a bow around the base of the knob for an extra special touch.

Fill with candy and ta-da! An easy gift, party decoration, or a festive addition to your space.
