1914 — Mt. Kurama, Japan. Dr. Mikao Usui sat in the mountains in meditative prayer after 21 days of fasting. Golden, flickering luminescence in the distance drew closer to form Sanskrit symbols instructing him to create a healing system of laying hands. Thus Usui reiki was born.
