One of the earliest lessons infants learn is to seek sweet-tasting sustenance. Instinctually, we know that sugar is the signal of trustworthy nourishment, but too much of a good thing quickly becomes a problem. A host of physical and mental health concerns have all been linked to an overload of sugar in our systems, and still that granulated goodness is notoriously added to many of our favorite foods. It’s hard to track just how much you’re swallowing. So how can we enjoy the sweet life without it souring our health?
